Volcanic ash from hell

Wow, I really suck at blogging.

Anyway, lots has been happening over here in Italy, the main thing obviously being that all of us are stranded here because of the volcanic ash. My mom and stepdad are stuck in Amsterdam, and my brother is stuck in NY, trying to get here. We’re supposed to be on our “family vacation” right now but obviously that is not going according to plan.

On one side, this is the worst thing ever. I wish my family was here and I’m pretty disappointed that they’re not. Matt might get out tonight so we’ll see with that. But on the other side, it’s kind of awesome that I’m literally incapable of going home. Nobody could even make me leave if they wanted to. So I think I might try to change my flight to be two weeks from now. I’m having a blast with my somewhat new group of friends and it feels like everything just started being really perfect right when I was supposed to go home. So maybe I am just meant to stay here for a little longer… right?

What is hardest to accept about the passage of time is that the people who once mattered the most to us are wrapped up in parentheses. »John Irving, The Cider House Rules (via quotewhore)

Back from Greece after 27 hours of traveling. Bus to ferry to 17 hour cruise to 5 1/2 hour bus and finally home. I miss it already but made some amazing friends to spend my last two weeks at SACI with :)

I love people. Everybody. I love them, I think, as a stamp collector loves his collection. Every story, every incident, every bit of conversation is raw material for me. My love’s not impersonal yet not wholly subjective either. I would like to be everyone, a cripple, a dying man, a whore, and then come back to write about my thoughts, my emotions, as that person. But I am not omniscient. I have to live my life, and it is the only one I’ll ever have. And you cannot regard your own life with objective curiosity all the time. »The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath (via quote-book)
